ITANAGAR: In a distressing situation unfolding in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, at least 70 children and five teachers are reported to be left stranded in a school located in Bijoypur under the Diyun circle.

The school has been completely surrounded by flood waters, cutting off all access to other parts.

Efforts to rescue the stranded children and teachers are underway.

Assam Rifles troopers along with local villagers, district administration officials and Arunachal Pradesh police personnel are engaged in the rescue operations.

However, the rescue operations have been severely hampered by harsh weather conditions, resulting in at least two failed rescue attempts thus far.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has been alerted about the situation, and helicopters have been prepared for deployment.
