Guwahati: An Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel and his teenage son are missing after being swept away by strong currents in the Kameng River in Arunachal Pradesh.

Havildar Bapi Ghosh, stationed at the IAF camp at Salonibari in Tezpur, had gone on a family outing to Bhalukpung on Thursday evening when the incident occurred.

His 14-year-old son reportedly slipped and fell into the river, and Ghosh jumped in to save him. Both were carried away by the swift-flowing water.

Local residents alerted authorities after hearing the cries of Ghosh's wife.

Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were immediately deployed to search for the missing father and son, but they have yet to be found.
