Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Police foiled an attempt to smuggle heroin into the state, seizing drugs worth around Rs 2 lakh and arresting two individuals.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided a house in Niti Darlong village near Seijosa in Pakke Kessang district on Monday. During the search, they recovered 35 vials filled with heroin, a soap case containing heroin, and 164 empty vials, informed Superintendent of Police Tasi Darang.

A 22-year-old woman, Jumyir Gangkak, was apprehended in connection with the seizure. Upon interrogation, she revealed acquiring the drugs from an individual in neighboring Assam.

Armed with this information, police swiftly moved into Assam and arrested 22-year-old Afjal Husain from Khonamukh village in Sonitpur district on Tuesday. Approximately 12.37 grams of heroin were found in his possession.

"An investigation is ongoing," said police, adding that this marks the first instance of a drug-related case registered in Pakke Kessang district.
