IMPHAL: Naga Hoho has attributed the ethnic clashes in Manipur between the Kukis and Meiteis, to the “irresponsible, complacent, and short-sighted policies” of both state and central governments.

The Naga Hoho is the apex body representing Nagas across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, and parts of Myanmar.

In a strongly worded statement, Naga Hoho expressed deep concern over the violent conflict that has plagued Manipur, resulting in numerous casualties and widespread displacement.

Opposition to scrapping of Free Movement Regime (FMR)

The Naga Hoho also expressed its firm opposition to the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) by the central government between India and Myanmar.

Solution to the Naga political issue

Naga Hoho has called on the central government to make a genuine and determined effort to find a lasting resolution to the Naga political issue.

“The Government of India should make an honest, determined, and concerted effort to bring about a permanent solution to the Naga issue that is acceptable, inclusive and sustainable to all the stakeholders,” Naga Hoho stated.
