Agartala: Polling preparations are in full swing in Tripura for the upcoming West Parliamentary Constituency poll and the by-election in the 7-Ramnagar Assembly Constituency slated for April 19.

More than 10,000 polling personnel, accompanied by police personnel, have begun transporting Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) to their assigned polling stations.

The dispatch and receiving centre for EVMs has been set up at Umakanta Academy in Agartala. Dr. Vishal Kumar, the Returning Officer for the West Parliamentary Constituency, informed reporters that the dispatched EVMs will cover 8 Assembly segments, with designated centres across Sepahijala, Gomati, and South Districts.

“All polling personnel have gathered at Umakanta Academy to receive their EVMs for deployment to their respective polling stations. Police personnel are also present, and distribution has commenced. We expect all personnel to reach their stations by 4 or 4:30 PM. I extend my gratitude to all involved. Over 15,000 polling and police personnel will be deployed,” stated the RO.

With a total of 1682 polling stations in the West Parliamentary Constituency, each station will have four polling personnel and around 7 civil personnel. Additionally, 33 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and approximately 400 Static Surveillance Teams will be active in the field. The deployment will see CAPF and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) at every polling station, supported by the Tripura Police.
