Agatha Sangma appointed chairperson of Meghalaya Child Rights Commission
Guwahati: The Meghalaya government has appointed former Lok Sabha MP, Agatha K Sangma, as the new chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR).
The decision was approved by the state cabinet on Friday, although no official announcement has been made yet.

Agatha, who lost the recent Lok Sabha election from Tura, will lead the commission responsible for protecting and promoting children's rights in Meghalaya.
The SCPCR has been without a chairperson since February when Iamonlang M Syiem's term ended.

As chairperson, Agatha will oversee the implementation of key laws, including the POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act, and Right to Free and Compulsory Education Act.
She will work alongside six commission members to ensure the welfare and protection of children in the state.
