59 out of 62 MCC violations addressed, 13 suspended: Tripura CEO

Agartala: Tripura CEO Puneet Agarwal announced in a press conference that the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has been actively addressing complaints of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations ahead of the Lok Sabha election for the West Parliamentary Constituency in Agartala.

Out of the 62 complaints received, 59 have been dealt with, leading to the temporary suspension of 13 government officials.

Agarwal emphasized that the last campaign will conclude by 5 PM the following day, after which no further rallies or roadshows will be allowed.

He urged outsiders to vacate the area and instructed Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) and Returning Officers (ROs) to enforce a 48-hour restriction period, intensifying security measures during this time.

Polling personnel have undergone training and will be deployed to their respective stations by April 18. Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will be stationed at all polling booths along with state security to ensure a smooth voting process.

Special arrangements have been made for differently-abled voters, and webcasting facilities will be available at all polling stations. The voting will take place from 7 AM to 5 PM, with tokens distributed to those in line after 5 PM.

Regarding seizures, CEO Tripura reported confiscations totalling Rs 26 Crores since March 16, including drugs worth Rs 23 Crores, foreign liquor valued at Rs 2.3 crore, and a cash amount of Rs 60 lakh seized by enforcement agencies.

Agarwal assured that complaints are being promptly addressed, with action taken on 59 out of 62 received. Thirteen government employees have faced complaints, with some receiving warnings. Complaint redressal officers have been appointed to handle the process effectively.
