GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that the state has attracted investments amounting to Rs 13,364 crore, resulting in the creation of over 17,000 jobs in the past 14 months.

These investments have been pledged through 21 proposals sanctioned by the state cabinet under the Industrial and Investment Policy of Assam (IIPA), 2019.

Sarma highlighted that the IIPA was modified in 2023 to draw in mega investments exceeding Rs 100 crore, with a commitment to generate 200 or more permanent jobs.

Out of these proposals, MoUs for 14 were previously signed, while agreements for the remaining seven were inked recently, said Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma.
